Episode 20: Draining the Fuel Tank

Restoration

In Episode 20 1970 Toyota FJ40 LandCruiser Restoration Series Draining the Fuel Tank I drain a Cool Cruisers of Texas aftermarket Fuel Tank I removed from my FJ40 about a year ago. The LandCruiser has not been driven since long before that. My plan was to drain about a gallon of old fuel into my 2 1/2 gallon gas can, and then mix 1 1/2 gallons of fresh gas with it and see if it will run in my Lawn Tractor, and then do this one more time to use up all of the old fuel in the FJ40’s Fuel Tank. But, the gas coming out of the Fuel Tank is awfully dark and full of sediment. It looked like Okeefenokee Swamp water! I am not sure what to do other than dilute it even more and still run it in the Lawn Tractor. I don’t know of anyone that takes old gas and recycles it. I live in the suburbs, so I can’t really go burn it or use it to kill weeds in the driveway. If you have any suggestions please leave them in the comments below.

As I always mention, I publish these videos because I am new to the LandCruiser restoration process. I will need the videos as a reference when I am ready to begin reassembling the LandCruiser. So, they are made for my benefit, not necessarily for entertainment purposes. But, if there is something you can use from them, please do.

The manual siphon hand pump I use in this video I bought on Amazon. It worked well, and it was inexpensive. I have an Amazon affiliate link you can purchase it from here:

. If you use the link to purchase the Manual Siphon Hand Pump it won’t cost you any more money than if you didn’t use it, but it will pay me a small commission on your purchase.
