Baby Steps: Removing the Bibb
Exterior Body · Restoration
I can’t believe how long it took to pull off the Bibb from in front of the radiator. Every bolt that you remove from a rusted 48 year old vehicle takes a lot of energy and time. Almost all of them have broken off rather than unscrew. The final bolt had to be drilled out because the bolt and nut heads were stripped. I think it took about 5 hours of work to remove the Bibb. Everything seems to take twice as long as I planned, but I am making progress and it will be worth it in the end.
The next step will be tearing into the radiator and removing it. Then working my way back through the engine compartment and fenders until I can pull the body off of the frame. Looking at project completion in 2020 for the LandCruiser’s 50th birthday celebration. Great things take time.
